Atelier Lens LLC

Before you hire anyone

Veteran-owned. New Baltimore. The work has to last.

This page exists because you deserve to know exactly who you're hiring, what you're actually getting, and — honestly — whether Atelier Lens is even the right fit for you. Not every photographer is right for every client. I'd rather tell you that upfront than waste both our time.

The problem with most photographers

I live here. I shoot here.

Pet portraits, small weddings, and events in Macomb and St. Clair. The calendar stays small so the edit is not rushed.

That's not a sales pitch. That's just the reality of what's at stake when you hire someone to document something that matters. Documentary, here, means I work with the room. I don't stop the day to pose it. We have light if the file would fail. Which is exactly why I'm going to tell you everything about how I work — so you can make the right call.

TJ, owner and photographer at Atelier Lens LLC, Michigan – specializing in portraits, pet photography, real estate, and events

Who you're actually hiring

I'm TJ. I live here. I shoot here. And I take this seriously.

Michigan native. U.S. veteran. Owner of Atelier Lens LLC in New Baltimore. I've been doing this for over a decade — not as a side hustle, not as a hobby I turned into a business, but as a craft I've been deliberately building since before most people in this market were shooting professionally.

Military service gave me something most photographers don't have: the ability to stay composed when everything is moving fast, execute precisely under pressure, and be accountable to the people counting on me. I don't show up and wing it. I show up prepared — with a shot list, a plan, and the experience to adapt when the plan changes.

I live in St. Clair County with my family and my own pets. So when you bring me in to photograph your dog, your wedding, or your event — I'm not guessing at what matters to you. I already know. I've been there. And I know that five years from now, the image I make today is the thing that brings that moment back.

What you actually get

How a session actually runs

Every photographer claims to be professional. Here's what that word actually means when you hire Atelier Lens.

Veteran-owned. Accountable by default.

Military service doesn't leave you when you pick up a camera. The discipline, precision, and accountability TJ developed in uniform carries directly into every session. You get a photographer who shows up prepared, executes without excuses, and delivers exactly what was promised — on time, every time. Fully insured with professional and general liability coverage.

No rushed sessions. No cookie-cutter results.

TJ takes the time to understand what matters to you before a single frame is captured. Your pet's personality. Your couple's story. Your home's best light. Your brand's visual identity. That preparation is what separates images that feel real from images that just look like photographs.

The look is decided at prep. The pictures on this page are the proof.

The look is decided at prep. Every image is hand-edited individually — no batch processing, no auto-filters.

Files protected before we edit.

We shoot to dual cards and back the day up to the cloud before any editing begins. Then the hand-edit starts.

Archival prints. Not just digital files.

The download is not the whole job. Atelier Lens offers archival fine art prints, canvases, metal prints, and gallery frames — produced through a professional laboratory and built to last generations. Your images deserve to be on a wall, not buried in a folder.

Deeply local. Genuinely invested.

TJ has lived and worked in Southeast Michigan for years. He knows the light on Lake St. Clair, the character of the St. Clair River shoreline, the communities of Macomb and St. Clair Counties. That local knowledge isn't a selling point — it shows up in every image.

One photographer. Every visual need.

Pet portraits, weddings, elopements, real estate, commercial events, private parties — one trusted photographer for everything your family or business needs. No hand-offs, no inconsistency. You always know who you're working with and what to expect.
