Precision Techniques for Jewelry Photography

Jewelry photography is one of the most technically demanding disciplines in commercial photography. Small subjects, highly reflective surfaces, intricate engraving details, and the need for absolute color accuracy require specialized equipment and technique. At Atelier Lens LLC, we apply a controlled studio workflow to every jewelry shoot — from initial lighting setup through final color grading.

Focus Stacking for Maximum Sharpness

Macro photography at high magnification produces an extremely shallow depth of field — even at small apertures, only a fraction of a piece may be in focus in a single frame. We use focus stacking: capturing multiple frames at incrementally different focus distances, then compositing them in post to produce a single image where every detail from front to back is tack-sharp. The result is a technically superior image that showcases your craftsmanship in full.

Reflection Control & Sparkle Enhancement

Polished metal and gemstones reflect everything in their environment — including the camera, the photographer, and the studio. We use polarized lighting, custom diffusion panels, and careful angle control to eliminate unwanted reflections while preserving the natural sparkle and brilliance of stones and polished surfaces. Sparkle enhancement in post adds controlled catch-lights that make diamonds, crystals, and polished metals come alive on screen.

True Color Editing for Accurate Representation

Color accuracy is critical for jewelry — a customer who receives a piece that looks different from the listing photo loses trust in the seller. We calibrate our studio lighting and editing workflow to produce True Color results: accurate gold tones, correct silver and rhodium finishes, and gemstone colors that match the physical piece. Every image is color-graded against a calibrated reference to ensure consistency across your entire product catalog.
