Our Editing Styles Explained: True Color, Modern Classic & Signature Modern Vintage Black & White

Learn the differences between our editing approaches at Atelier Lens LLC — True Color, Modern Classic, and our Signature Modern Vintage Black & White with Selective Color. Discover which style best suits your pet portraits, weddings, real estate, or product photography in Southeast Michigan.

Our Editing Styles Explained: True Color, Modern Classic & Signature Modern Vintage Black & White — Atelier Lens LLC

At Atelier Lens, we believe the editing approach should honor the story behind every image. We offer one true signature style — and two standard editing options — each chosen with intention depending on the session type and your personal vision.

True Color — Honest and Precise

Our most literal style, focused on accuracy and clarity. True Color delivers clean, industry-standard results with sharp detail and natural colors — no artistic stylization, just truthful representation of what the camera captured.

Best for: Product & Jewelry Photography, Real Estate, and Commercial Work

When a buyer needs to see exactly what a gemstone looks like, or a realtor needs accurate room colors for an MLS listing, True Color is the right call. It's the foundation everything else is built on — precise, clean, and professional.

Modern Classic — Warm and Alive

This is our primary style for personal work. Modern Classic builds on True Color with rich, natural warmth and beautiful depth — images that feel elevated without feeling over-processed.

Best for: Weddings, Pet Portraits, Elopements, and Family Sessions

Clients often describe these images as feeling like "how the day actually felt" — emotional without being overdone. The warmth is intentional, the depth is real, and the result is something you'll want to hang on a wall.

Signature Modern Vintage Black & White with Selective Color — Dramatic and Timeless

Our most artistic signature look. We convert to striking black and white while selectively preserving color in specific elements — a pair of green eyes, a wedding bouquet, a glowing pendant — for maximum visual impact.

Best for: Fine Art Portraits and Images Meant to Become Wall Art

This style creates powerful, heirloom-quality photographs that stand the test of time. The contrast is bold, the selective color is intentional, and the result is something that looks as striking in 30 years as it does today. It's the style most associated with Atelier Lens — and the one we're most proud of.

Choosing What's Right for You

We discuss editing options during every consultation. Many sessions blend approaches — for example, using Modern Classic for the majority of wedding images and our Signature Modern Vintage Black & White for the most powerful moments, while keeping product work in True Color.

No matter which approach fits your session, every photo is edited by hand with care. Our goal is always work that feels personal, intentional, and timeless — never trendy or clinical. Which look resonates with you? We'd love to show examples and help you decide.
